The concepts dashboard is a content designer level dashboard providing insights into the number of concepts across courses, the number of concepts with prerequisites, and the difficulty level of concepts.
Access and Navigation
The concepts dashboard will be accessible by any user with the privilege to access it.
To access the Concepts Dashboard:
- Navigate to the Insights page.
- Click on the Concepts button.
- Select a Program and Course
Concepts
This metric shows the total number of concepts defined in a course with data available. This metric also notes the number of concepts with prerequisites.
Data Points
This metric shows the total number of data points available on the platform. Data points reflect student performance data in the respective concept.
Concept Difficulty Index (CDX) Range
The Concept Difficulty Index (CDX) indicates how difficult a concept is for students to master. This metric illustrates the range in CDX for this course.
Example: 30% CDX means 30% of the time students found this concept difficult.
Concept Difficulty Index (CDX) Distribution
This metric shows the overall distribution of difficulty across all concepts. The scale is 0% (most easy) to 100% (most difficult).
- Too easy: less than 10%
- Medium difficulty: between 10 and 50%
- Too difficult: greater than 50%
Concept Data
This metric shows the concept performance data including Concept, # of data points, # of students, CDX, CSX, CIX, Remediation Efficacy, average time spent, and latest data. Concept performance data can be filtered by keyword.
- What is CDX?
- CDX stands for Concept Difficulty Index. It indicates how difficult a concept is for students to master.
- Example: 30% CDX means that 30% of the time the students found this concept difficult.
- What is CSX?
- CSX stands for Concept Scaffolding Index. It indicates the percentage of times students are scaffolding in a concept.
- Example: 20% CSX means 20% of the time students are scaffolding in this concept.
- If N/A is shown, there is no prerequisite available for this concept.
- What is CIX?
- CIX stands for Concept Intervention Index. It indicates the percentage of times students are needing intervention in a concept.
- Example: 40% CIX means 40% of the time students are needing intervention in this concept.
- Remediation Efficacy
- Remediation efficacy percentage reflects how successfully remediation on the platform has helped close knowledge gaps and minimize interventions for students in this concept.
- Example #1: If the remediation efficacy is 78%, then it means that students achieved mastery in 78% of remediation events/cases after being scaffolded.
- Example #2: If the remediation efficacy is 0%, the remediation was not successful for any student. The CSX and CIX will be the same in this case.
- Example #3: If the remediation efficacy is 100%, the remediation was successful for all remediated students. The CIX will be 0% in this case.
- Example #4: If the remediation efficacy is N/A, no remediation has happened. The CSX will also be N/A.
