What is an initial diagnostic for a unit?
To take a unit initial diagnostic:
- Navigate to the the desired unit.
- Find the initial diagnostic on the unit dashboard.
- Select the unit initial diagnostic to begin taking the diagnostic.
An initial diagnostic for a unit measures what you know about the content of a unit before starting that unit. It contains a sampling of questions from across the unit, and you will complete all of these questions as part of the diagnostic. If you demonstrate proficiency in certain content while taking the diagnostic, that content may be marked as mastered. What this means is that you won't have to complete that content later while working through the unit.
Note that determining your initial proficiency is the only purpose for the unit diagnostic. How you perform on the diagnostic will not affect your grade for the unit.
