What happens if I remove a prerequisite from the Blueprint for a live course?

If you need to remove a prerequisite while a course is live to students, here are four scenarios and what would occur:

1. The student completes the original concept but does not achieve mastery. The student is alerted that they will be scaffolded. They have not launched the prerequisite (scaffolded) concept yet. The content designer removes the prerequisite concept from the Blueprint. In this scenario, the concept card in the Student UI will display "Scaffolded", but when the student clicks on the concept card, the original concept's learning workflow will display and not the prerequisite. After the original concept is finished (either with or without mastery), the concept card will continue to show the student had scaffolded. In this scenario, the Faculty will not see that the student was scaffolded; they will just see that the concept was mastered/completed.

2. The student is going through the original concept's learning workflow and the prerequisite is removed. The student completes the concept without mastery and no scaffolding occurs. Because no scaffolding has occurred, nothing is indicated to the student or faculty regarding scaffolding or prerequisites.

3. The student is working on a prerequisite and the prerequisite is removed while the student is working on it. The student can submit the question they are working on or click on "Next" if they are on an instructional item, and they will be immediately directed to the first step of the original concept's learning workflow. The concept card in the Student UI will show a status of scaffolded, but the Faculty UI will not show that the student was scaffolded.

4. The student does not meet mastery for the original concept and completes the prerequisite. They complete/master the original concept. The content designer removes the prerequisite concept from the Blueprint. The concept card in the Student UI will continue to show that the student was scaffolded; however, in the Faculty UI, it will not show that the student was scaffolded but that the concept was completed with or without mastery.
